What am I looking at, anyway?
In a nutshell, the Red River in all its glory. You are looking north-east from the 5th Floor of the Machray Hall building on the University of Manitoba's Fort Garry campus. If you want to find out where this camera is located on campus or where the campus is in Winnipeg, there are photos and maps to assist you.
The river flows from right to left across the upper portion of the picture. The row of trees in the centre of the picture, on the near riverbank, is normally completely above water. The hut to the middle left side, partially out of frame, is a pumphouse. Just out of view of the foreground of the picture is Dysart Road which sits on top of most of the north portion of the permanent dike protecting the campus.
