COMP 7980 Advanced Topics in Scientific and Numerical Computing


TOPICAL OUTLINE

Will depend on the research interests of students and faculty and may include one or more of the following (or other topics of current interest.)

1. Special algebraic spline curves including the Tschirnhausen cubic.

2. Non-linear spline curves including least energy spline curve.

3. Arc and spiral splines, including biarc and clothoid splines.

4. B-spline curves and surfaces for surface fitting and geometric modelling.

5. Smooth blending of surface patches (including Bzier and Gregory patches) for geometric modelling and surface fitting.

6. Advanced NURBS (non-uniform rational B-splines).

7. Problems related to medical imaging
