I'm an Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Science at the University of Manitoba where I co-direct the hci lab . My research interests are in the areas of human-computer interaction, applied artificial intelligence and user modelling. I'm interested in how to design and evaluate user interfaces that adapt to the needs of individual users, including how to: obtain and reason about information on individual abilities, preferences and traits; ensure the usability of systems with dynamic and proactive behaviour; and evaluate systems with such inherent complexity and variability.
Prior to arriving at the U of M, I worked as a Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Waterloo in the Human-Computer Interaction Lab. In June 2007, I completed my Ph.D. at the University of British Columbia, where I also completed a M.Sc. in 2001. My B.Sc. is from Queen's University.
