Avara, eh?
[ The Canadian Connection ]

great white north
Even before the war, this massive expanse of territory was mostly ignored. Few attacks were directed against it and few battles were waged within its boundaries. And it was mere happenstance that the majority of the popluation was situated along the border of a nation under seige.

Of course, millions died when the gases rolled in, just as they had in Rochester where it all began. The difference here was that the people put up less of a fuss. Typically Canadian. However, the nation was not lost yet...

Several proving grounds had been established in the north for the sleek and towering HECTORs, or Hostile Environment Combat and Transport Operations Remote units. The snow covered Rockies, the frozen tundra, the treacherous ice floes above the arctic circle; all of these helped to confirm that the HECTOR was indeed capable of sustained operations in such a severe environment.

And now with the war under way, these winter HECTORs -- a red maple leaf stamped proudly on each leg -- were being put into service, readied for battle in the Avara.
