Needle - July 2004
on the west ridge Trip Summary
Expecting a longer day than it turned out to be, six of us headed northeast on the Coquihalla to scramble the west ridge of Needle Peak. Those present were Reid, Matt, Richard, Christy, Payal, and me. We took the easy route up, hiking to the west ridge, and then up very moderate terrain to quickly gain the summit. Unlike the usual "ahhh, finally" feeling upon getting to the top, this was more of an "is that it?" feeling. We felt a bit silly for having started as early as we did but everyone had a good time nonetheless. A better route might have been the northeast ridge.

See Reid's photos and topo map.

At the last minute Reid snaps into a perfect Upward Full-foot Plant. The west ridge goes up the right skyline.
