Speaker: Julien Arino Title: The global air transportation network and the spread of infectious diseases Abstract: The SARS epidemic of 2003 showed that the global air transportation network has the capacity to greatly facilitate and accelerate the dissemination of infectious pathogens. I will present work carried out in the context of the Bio.Diaspora Project, where we study worldwide commercial aviation and its relationship with the spread of infectious diseases. I will discuss the extensive databases we have, as well as computational aspect related to the use of these data, such as GIS, mapping, network analysis and mathematical simulations.
